See
king the blessing Which of us doesn’t seek after blessings in his/her life? We search and ask for it with all our strength. We want it to be continually present with us. Some may cry out for it like Jabez who prayed to God saying “
1Ch 4:10 … If indeed You would bless me ….” While others would cheat to get it, like Jacob
“Gen 27:19 And Jacob said to his father, I am your first-born, Esau. I have done as you said to me. Rise up now, sit and eat of my game, so that your soul may bless me.”
Still others would kill for it, like Esau “
Gen 27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” Also, some would like their children to inherit it, like Joseph “
Gen 48:8,9 And Israel saw the sons of Joseph, and he said, Who are these? And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given to me here. And he said, Now bring them to me and I will bless them.”
And the question is, does heaven send down blessings upon us?
This question may get many varying answers.
But read what the word of God says:
“Gen 49:25 And may the Almighty bless you with blessings of Heaven from above”
Yes heaven sends down blessings
That’s why Jesus, wanting to bless the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed the multitudes,
the bible says that He;
“Mat 14:19 …. looking up to Heaven……”.
You should also do the same thing, look up to heaven and ask for your life to be blessed.
God loves you
God blesses you because He loves you. John the apostle says through the Holy Spirit “1Jo 4:19 …. He first loved us.” The word “First” in this verse means at the beginning of all things, that is, before the world was created, God loved man. Thus, He created him and from the day He created man, He blessed him “Gen 1:27,28 And God created man … He created them male and female. And God blessed them”
This blessing is God’s sustenance and preparation of man so that he’d be able to live his days on earth. Likewise, God blessed Abraham so that he’d be able to face his new life which God had called him forth to “Gen 12:1,2 And the Lord had said to Abram, Go out from your land …… to the land which I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you …”
Do you feel the love God has for you? Do you enjoy His blessings over your life like Abraham did? Or do you live like the eldest son in the parable of the prodigal son, (Luk 15:11-32) who had lived with his father all his days and had received his portion in his father’s inheritance, yet, he was not enjoying his blessings because he was waiting for his father to give him a goat so that he might be merry with his friends, though his father had told him “ Luk 15:31 .... Child, you are always with me, and all of my things are yours.”
God has given you a promise to enjoy his blessing,
it is the same blessing that Abraham received, but you can receive it now through Jesus Christ.
Lift your hands and heart towards heaven and declare your faith in the Lord Jesus,
your savior from both earthly and eternal damnation
and your savior from sin,
that the blessing of Abraham might be yours in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:14
Estrangement
One of the reasons why we don’t enjoy our Godly blessings is that we feel estranged or separated from God. An example of this, is the parable of the prodigal son (Luk 15:11-32). The eldest son lived with his father in the same house, yet, he felt estranged from him. That is because he had a prefixed idea, that caused him a lot of grief, which was that his father had favored his younger brother over him, even though the truth of the matter was that the father Luk 15:12 divided his living to them.
That is, the father had divided what belonged to him equally between both brothers. The elder son’s feelings’ were declared by his saying to his father at the return of his younger brother “Luk15:29,30 ….., Behold, so many years I serve you, and I have never transgressed a command of you. And you never gave a goat to me, so that I might be merry with my friends. But when this son of yours came, the one devouring your living with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him”.
Don’t feel estranged from God the way the elder son felt from his father, nor feel like David when he felt separated from God in his time of pain and despair and said “Psa 39:12 … for I am a stranger with You….” For the word of truth declares “Rom 8:15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father!”
Cry out to God with all your strength calling out to Him
Abba, Father! My father
For He is Luk 11:2 .. Our Father, who is in Heaven”,
and also Eph 1:3 …Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ;”
Thus in faith say: I have the blessings of the heavenly father in Christ. Amen
A blessing that lasts:
The blessing of God isn’t temporary or transitory, it’s a blessing that continues and lasts. God commanded Moses, Aaron and Aaron’s sons to bless the people with the words of blessing in
(Num 6:22,23).Notice that God didn’t command only Moses and Aaron, but the sons of Aaron also, because God wanted the blessing to continue from one generation to the other. He commanded them saying “Num 6:23-27 … In this way you shall bless the sons of Israel, saying to them: Jehovah bless you and keep you; Jehovah cause His face to shine on you, and be gracious to you; Jehovah lift up His face to you, and give you peace. So they shall put My name on the sons of Israel, and I Myself will bless them”
The blessing wasn’t confined to the people of Israel only, for the purpose of God; even from the days of Abraham; was for the blessing to be on all the nations. That is why God told him“Gen 12:… And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Likewise, the apostle Paul confirms this in his letter to the Galatians “Gal 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might be to the nations in Christ Jesus.”
Has the blessing on your life ceased because of the sins of your fathers and forefathers? Or maybe it is because of your own sins? Declare that you are separated from the sins of the fathers and forefathers and from their results which may have hindered the blessing on your life. Also, repent of your sins, and because of your faith in the redemption of the blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit declares in “1Pe 1:18,19 knowing that not with corruptible things, silver or gold, were you redeemed from your worthless way of life handed down from your fathers, but with precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot”
Do like Jabez,
who, when the blessing was hindered in his life
cried out to God saying
“1Ch 4:10 If indeed You would bless me, and make my border larger, and Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil so that it may not grieve me! And God gave him what he asked.”
God will give you what you ask for, because He is a God who
“Isa 30:19 … will be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. When He hears, He will answer you. “
Hallelujah.
A Blessing that cannot be taken away/reversed:
No evil power can stop the blessing of God from reaching you. We see Balaam the evil sorcerer, confessing that he had failed at stopping the blessing of God from reaching His people, so he said “Num 23:20 ….He (God) has blessed; I cannot reverse it.”
And not only that, God had stopped him from cursing the people and had commanded him to bless them three times. These are recorded in the book of Numbers (Num 23:6 - 1 0,16-23 ;24:5-9). I encourage you to read them so that your faith may increase. Balaam submitted to the will of God and said “Num 23:20 Behold, I have received word to bless”
God doesn’t only wish that you were blessed, but He commands it, so that no power could stop you from obtaining the blessing, except you!!
Yes, you!! Being in His will and submitting to Him makes you able to enjoy all the blessings He has for you, as it is written in the holy word of God “Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on you and overtake you if you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God.”
If we notice carefully, the prophetic blessings that God commanded Balaam to proclaim, we find that he said three sentences which describe the state or condition the people should be in, to be able to receive their blessing. And this is the same state you should be in, to be able to receive the blessings of God on your life. The first condition is “Num 23:9 …. Behold, it is a people that shall dwell alone …” dwell alone means a people that live in the world but does not live like the people of the world, doing evil. Likewise, the Holy Spirit commands us through the apostle Paul saying “Rom 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world” that is, do not fashion yourself according to the people of the world in doing evil.
The second condition is “Num 23:21 He has seen no iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen mischief in Israel…” that is that he is a people whose “Isa 33:24….. iniquity is taken away.” The Holy Spirit tells us through the apostle John saying “1Jo 1:9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous that He may forgive us the sins, and may cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The word “forgive” means to send away, as it is written in Psalms “Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Thus, confessing our sin and desiring to leave it, lets God remove it far away from our lives.
The third condition is “Num 24:6…. like the trees of aloes which the Lord has planted…” meaning that the children of God are planted by His hands like small plantings in good soil so that their spiritual, psychological and physical growth would be wholly dependent on Him. Just as the apostle Paul said “1Co 3:9 ..you are a field of God…” and also their growth would be dependent on the word of God as David declared “Psa 1:1-3 Blessed is the man …his delight is only in the Law of Jehovah, and he meditates in His Law day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of waters, which will give its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf will not wither, and all which he does will prosper.”
God has commanded His blessing upon you
And no power whatsoever can stop it from reaching you.
But for you to receive it and enjoy it depends on,
You not living like the people of the world in sin.
Confessing your sin and truly desiring to leave it, so that God would forgive you of it.
Growing and depending on God and His holy word.
God Enriches:
Yes God will bless you from the abundance of His riches, because His blessing “Pro 10:22……. it makes rich, and he adds no pain with it.” This is exactly what happened with one of the widows who was married to a prophet, whose story is mentioned in the book of second Kings (2 Ki 4:1-7). She cried out to the prophet Elisha to save her from the lender who was going to come and take her sons as slaves because she was not able to payback the debt she owed him. So Elisha asked her what she had in her house, and she answered that she only had a pot of oil. He told her to go borrow a lot of empty vessels from her neighbors, and so she did. He further told her to pour out the little oil she had into all the empty vessels. When she did as the prophet Elisha had told her, all the vessels were filled, and Elisha told her “2Ki 4:7 …Go, sell the oil, and repay your loan. And you and your sons shall live from the rest.” Thus, when the blessing of God came on the little, the widow had, it greatly enriched her, and removed all the trouble she was in. God wants the blessing to increase in your life starting with the smallest insignificant things that seem to have no meaning or value, so that the blessing may attest to His riches “Phi 4:19 And my God will fill your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Not your own riches “Pro 11:28 One trusting in his riches, he shall fall..”.
Do not despise the little things that you have
But believe that God is able to make it a source of blessing for you
That you and your children may be satisfied
Just as the little oil the widow had, was a source of blessing
and even life, for her and her children.
So were the 5 loaves and 2 fish a source of fullness for thousands
Amen
Let us listen to this precious advice from the Lord “Heb 10:35 Then do not throw away your confidence, which has great reward.” Yes always hold on to your confidence in God, despite what you see in your reality and despite what circumstances are. Refuse the lies of the devil, that tell you that God does not care for you, but receive the word of God which tells you “Isa 49:15 Can a woman forget her suckling child, from pitying the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will surely not forget you.” Also don’t accept any thought that tells you, God will not bless you, but rather confess your faith as the sons of Joseph did“Jos 17:14 For Lord has blessed me until now.”
